S.
ELPIDIO A MARE: the monuments and the works
of art to be enjoyed are many in this little town.
Its history is rich in glamourous events, especially
during the middleages S. Elpidio a mare played
an important role in many battles. The past of
the town is to be relived every second Sunday
of August by the commemoration "Contesa del Secchio",
and (this probably more amusing for tourists)
"Cittą medioevo" (middleage town), the last Thursday,
Friday and Saturday of July. It is huge festa
where the whole town is dressed up in middleage
costumes, middleage workshops are being shown
all over the town, and everybody dine together
in the squares around the town, served by middleage
waiters. |

FERMO: this town has works of art from every
historical era. On the top of the hill, the cathedral
is worth a visit, and surely also the very beautifull
square "Piazza del popolo", where dinner or aperitivo
can be enjoyed in one of the many cosy establishments.
Apart from that, the town is rich in roman cisterns
and churches from different epochs. On the 15th.
of August is celebrated "La Cavalcata Dell'Assunta",
a chivalrous commemoration. This is a very amusing
event, and is not to be missed. |

ASCOLI
PICENO: : This is one of the bigger middleage
towns in Le Marche, and it has many interesting
sights: not only its unbelievable beauty of its
famous square, it also gives plenty of opportunities
to enjoy medieval and nobil architecture, and
to visit the museums, rich in artistic chief works.
Every year, to honour the guardian angel S. Emodio,
the celebration "La Quintana" is being held. This
is a typical Renaissance chivalry competition,
and it is also a kind of folk party, very recommendable.

ANCONA: Le Marches chief town, because of
its stratetic position at the sea side, the town
has been dominated by different invaders. The
influence of different nations has made of the
town what it is today:a place which is rich in
historical and ertistic treasures. Amongst the
many monuments that are to be found in the town,
the most fascinating surely is the San Ciriaco
cathedral. It is located high above the town,
and appears as the simbol of Ancona. |

RECANATI:
The town is definitely worth visiting for
it's own beauty and marvelous panorama but it
is famous all over the world thanks to the poet
Giacomo Leopardi, whose house is today a museum,
open for the public. It is also the native town
of the opera singer Beniamino Gigli, to whom the
town has dedicated a museum. The museum is located
inside the gallery "Pinoteca Civica" in which
there is also a numerous collection of Lorenzo
Lottos works of art. |

CALDAROLA:
Very attractive the visit of this suburb, village
of the painters De Magistris, thanks to his Castle
"Pallotta" mentioned nell'875 then much rehandled.
In the '500 the building had transformed from
military to elegant summer abode, whose rooms
have been painted by De Magistris. |
