Gradara: this is a pure middleage village which beauty can be admired from the adriatic coast. It is surrounded by the very peculiar and beautifull town wall with its square towers, and ower the town rises the famous castle.
     
URBINO: Urbino is a university town. In the middleages it was turned into a capital of art, by the Montefeltro family, and culturally it grew enough to be able to compete with Venice, Florence and Rome. The town is full of monuments and works of arts.
     
SAN LEO: this village is a famous tourist attraction, especially because of its monuments and its beautifull position. On a mountaintop the castle rises, and above it the fort. The place continues to fasinate people because of the castles strange and inaccessible position.
     
S. ELPIDIO A MARE: the monuments and the works of art to be enjoyed are many in this little town. Its history is rich in glamourous events, especially during the middleages S. Elpidio a mare played an important role in many battles. The past of the town is to be relived every second Sunday of August by the commemoration "Contesa del Secchio", and (this probably more amusing for tourists) "Cittą medioevo" (middleage town), the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday of July. It is huge festa where the whole town is dressed up in middleage costumes, middleage workshops are being shown all over the town, and everybody dine together in the squares around the town, served by middleage waiters.
     
FERMO: this town has works of art from every historical era. On the top of the hill, the cathedral is worth a visit, and surely also the very beautifull square "Piazza del popolo", where dinner or aperitivo can be enjoyed in one of the many cosy establishments. Apart from that, the town is rich in roman cisterns and churches from different epochs. On the 15th. of August is celebrated "La Cavalcata Dell'Assunta", a chivalrous commemoration. This is a very amusing event, and is not to be missed.
     
ASCOLI PICENO: : This is one of the bigger middleage towns in Le Marche, and it has many interesting sights: not only its unbelievable beauty of its famous square, it also gives plenty of opportunities to enjoy medieval and nobil architecture, and to visit the museums, rich in artistic chief works. Every year, to honour the guardian angel S. Emodio, the celebration "La Quintana" is being held. This is a typical Renaissance chivalry competition, and it is also a kind of folk party, very recommendable.
     
ANCONA: Le Marches chief town, because of its stratetic position at the sea side, the town has been dominated by different invaders. The influence of different nations has made of the town what it is today:a place which is rich in historical and ertistic treasures. Amongst the many monuments that are to be found in the town, the most fascinating surely is the San Ciriaco cathedral. It is located high above the town, and appears as the simbol of Ancona.
     
LORETO:Town for worshipping of God, founded in 1294. Tradition says that this is the place where the house of Jesus was brought from Nazareth by a group of angels. And that around that very house, the world famous basilica was constructed, today visited by thousands of pilgrims.
     
RECANATI: The town is definitely worth visiting for it's own beauty and marvelous panorama but it is famous all over the world thanks to the poet Giacomo Leopardi, whose house is today a museum, open for the public. It is also the native town of the opera singer Beniamino Gigli, to whom the town has dedicated a museum. The museum is located inside the gallery "Pinoteca Civica" in which there is also a numerous collection of Lorenzo Lottos works of art.
     
MACERATA: The historical center of Macerata is closed within the intact middleage citywalls. The town is rich in noble palaces, antique roads, and here you'll also find the neoclassic Sferisterio (playing field), once used for sport activities, but today world-famous for its operas.
     
TOLENTINO: Situated in strategic position in the valley of the Chienti, the place was inhabited from remote times and already to half of the XIII century was flourishing the manufacturing activity that exploited the water of the Chienti for mills, tanneries, furnaces and weavings. There are many different motives of interest in the historical nucleus of the town between which the Basilica of St. Nicola, one of the most important Sanctuaries of Italy.
     
CALDAROLA: Very attractive the visit of this suburb, village of the painters De Magistris, thanks to his Castle "Pallotta" mentioned nell'875 then much rehandled. In the '500 the building had transformed from military to elegant summer abode, whose rooms have been painted by De Magistris.
